Fast Track to Innovation (FTI)

FTI Programme is not expected to return in 2021

The Fast Track to Innovation (FTI) is now central part of the European Innovation Council (EIC) pilot, targeting radically new, breakthrough products, services, processes or business models that open up new markets.

Subsidy: €3,000,000

Funding rate: 70% (private) and 100% (non profit)

Deadlines: 9 June 2020, 27 October 2020

Project duration: 3 years

Consortium: Min 3 and max 5 legal entities from 3 different H2020 countries. At least 60% of the overall budget of the proposal must be allocated to consortium partners from industry. Or a minimum of 2 industry partners out of a consortium of 3 or 4; or a minimum of 3 industry partners out of a consortium of 5.

Participation from industry in consortium is mandatory.

Scope: FTI supports actions undertaking innovation from the demonstration stage through to market uptake, including activities such as piloting, test-beds, systems validation in real-world working conditions, validation of business models, pre-normative research, and standardsetting. FTI targets relatively mature, ground-breaking new technologies, concepts, processes and business models that need final development to be able to shape a new market and achieve wider deployment. FTI actions are encouraged to be interdisciplinary, cutting across different sectors and technologies.

About European Innovation Council (EIC) and Fast Track to Innovation (FTI)

FTI is a fully-bottom-up program within the EIC Work Program of Horizon 2020. The aim is to promote close-to-the-market innovation activities and reduce the time from idea to market. FTI is open to all types of participants and aims to increase the participation in Horizon 2020 of industry, SMEs and first-time industry applicants.

FTI also aims to nurture trans-disciplinary and cross-sector approaches. FTI projects must be business-driven and clearly demonstrate a realistic potential for quick deployment and market take-up of innovations. The application process of FTI consists of submitting a full proposal, the review results are expected 3 months after the deadline.
