MSCA-COFUND 2024 overview

Subsidy: max €10,000,000

Total budget: 2024: €99.28M

Funding rate: 50%

Deadlines: Opens on 3 April 2024; Deadline 26 September 2024

Project duration: 5 years

Consortium: One main participant, such as: government ministry, regional authority, funding agency, university, research organisation, and enterprise. Research teams will not be funded.

Scope: The MSCA-COFUND scheme aims co-fund new or existing regional, national, and international programmes to open up to, and provide for, international, intersectoral and interdisciplinary research training, as well as transnational and cross-sectoral mobility of researchers at all stages of their career. MSCA-COFUND supports doctoral programmes for PhD candidates, as well as fellowship programmes for experienced researchers.

Proposals under this Action should contribute to the following expected impacts:

• Enhance talent and knowledge circulation across the R&I landscape, through international, inter-sectoral and interdisciplinary mobility, including by supporting regional or national smart specialisation strategies when appropriate;
• Align practices with MSCA policies based on the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers;
• Improve the attractiveness of researchers’ careers notably through better working and employment conditions;
• Strengthen Europe’s human capital base in R&I by training highly-skilled researchers;
• Increase Europe’s attractiveness as a leading R&I destination;
• Enhance the quality of R&I contributing to Europe’s sustainable competitiveness;
• Establish sustainable collaboration between academic and non-academic organisations;
• Foster the culture of open science, innovation and entrepreneurship.

Marie Curie aims to enhance the skills of researchers or science staff in different stages of their career and the possibility to improve your career in science. In a lot of the grants the mobility principle is an important requirement, the researchers need to travel towards another country to gain skills, expertise or a fellowship.
